Our Complete Experience - Chiang Rai Temples and Tribes Tour in Portuguese

White Temple – Wat Rong Khun
Considered one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand, the White Temple impresses with its contemporary architecture and deep symbolism.
Designed by the renowned artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, famous for his extravagant and unique Buddhist paintings, Wat Rong Khun reflects his grand visions of heaven, hell, and Nirvana. The interior of the temple features hand-drawn designs by the artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, representing significant events from the Western world, drawings, famous public figures, and many references from the last 20 years.
Although open to the public, this is a private temple, which has been 100% renovated by the artist who invested over 40 million Baht. The temple is located within a large complex, and you can visit other parts designed by the artist during your time there.
Blue Temple – Wat Rong Seur Ten
A unique temple, famous for its vibrant blue murals and sculptures. The Blue Temple was designed by the artist Phuttha Kabkaew, a disciple of Chalermchai Kositpipat (the artist of the White Temple), and its psychedelic architecture closely resembles the style of the White Temple.
The temple is painted a striking blue with golden and white details. Its interior and exterior feature impressive details, making it one of the most photogenic temples in Chiang Rai.
On the outside of Wat Rong Seur Ten, there are several stalls selling souvenirs and snacks. Two of them stand out for offering the famous blue ice cream, a coconut ice cream with blue sticky rice, served in a coconut shell and decorated with jasmine flowers. It is also possible to try naturally dyed coconut ice cream with the blue from jasmine flowers.
Wat Huay Pla Klang (Big Buddha)
The tours conducted between November and April include a visit to the Big Buddha of Chiang Rai, one of the largest and most impressive religious monuments in the region, which houses a gigantic statue of the Goddess of Compassion, Guan Yin.
It is a very important figure in Mahayana Buddhism, which has strong Chinese influence.
Wat Huay Pla Klang was envisioned by monk Phop Chok, and was widely supported by the local community for the construction of the complex. Schools, a hospital, free restaurants were built on site, and everything is maintained with donations made by the community and tourists.
The statue of Guan Yin is approximately 79 meters tall, and the visit includes ascending through the interior via an elevator that takes you to the “head” of the statue. From inside, you can see through her eyes with a panoramic view of the city of Chiang Rai and, of course, admire all the beauty of the interior architecture, filled with references to Mahayana Buddhism. Upon exiting, you can descend the stairs and take photos with the giant white Nagas that line the sides of the stairs.
Karen Long Neck Tribe
Still on the Chiang Rai Temples and Tribes tour in Portuguese, we will visit the Karen Tribe, popularly known as the Long Neck Women Tribe. The tribe was forcibly migrated from Burma (Myanmar) over 40 years ago and settled in Thailand. Within the tribes, there are various ethnicities, and the women who wear brass rings/rings around their necks are one of them.
This tradition carries many cultural meanings that you will learn about with the guide during the visit. Today, the communities sustain themselves through the sale of handicrafts and agriculture, so the visit is important for them.
The order of visits is defined by the guide and may change depending on the day's conditions and the operational logistics of the tour.
